Technical Research Exhibition (TRE)

The Technical Research Exhibition (TRE) is a competition designed to showcase the NSBE members' skills in technical writing, theoretical research, and oral presentation, and it incorporates two tracks: Preliminary and Showcase. TRE, which is held during each Fall Regional Conference (FRC) and National Convention, is judged by technical professionals.

Academic Tech Bowl

The objective of the Academic Technical Bowl is to encourage and showcase Academic Excellence and understanding of the fundamental principles of engineering covered in the usual senior engineering standardized tests, for example the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam, or Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) Exam. The FE and FS exams are sometimes erroneously referred to as the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) and the Surveyor-in-Training (SIT) exams.

hackNSBE

hackNSBE is an intense and rewarding 12-hour programming experience. Teams of 2-5 will work to solve a coding challenge using their technical knowledge and sponsor-provided APIs and SDKs. This event is open to students of all majors. Previous programming experience is strongly recommended for participating. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Elevator Pitch Competition

Do you need to tune up your public speaking skills? Do you have a business idea but haven't quite figured out how to pitch it? Then come one and all! All NSBE entrepreneurs are invited to compete for awards, prizes, and the opportunity to pitch their idea to seasoned entrepreneurs, investors, and potential business partners

NSBE Debators

NSBE Debaters showcases both the technical and soft skills of members through culturally relevant debates. Teams will compete against each other to prove why their side of the argument is the most correct. Teams will be judged by content, style and strategy to determine the overall winner. The winning team will receive an award. NSBE Members participating in this event will have the opportunity to express matters of concern to society while advocating an effective method of resolving them.

Shadowing Initiative

The Shadowing Initiative is a program designed to get chapter members interested and excited in serving on the Regional Executive Board. Through this program, you will have the opportunity to shadow a board member, of your choice, during the Fall Regional Conference.
