Creating Your Digital Portfolio

​

The Region VI TORCH Chair will explain the importance of establishing your digital brand, guide attendees on using Weebly, and then give them time to develop a personal website. Bring 3-5 pieces of your work and your laptop to begin the initial process of creating your website.

How to Stay and Graduate
 

This workshop will teach students how to recruit and retain within NSBE and ensure that NSBE students graduate. Presenters will explain how NSBE and graduating go hand in hand.

Chapter Advisor Training

​

Mitigate confusion amongst chapter advisors  and explain their role and how they can be of best use to the organization. Training will entail fundraising tips, making sure executive board is on track, improving overall moral within the group, a review GPA Verification and Scholarships, and insight into the NSBE governing and operating documents.

How to Land Your Dream Job - Resume Review w/ Redfin

​

Presenters will explain about what resumes entail and students will bring 3-5 resumes to have
1 on 1 review with employees of Redfin. There will also be a focus on practicing mock interviews and elevator pitches.
​
 

Scavenger Hunt

​

Student leaders are broken into mixed teams and they work together to find 15 items around the University of Washington Campus that are al less than $15. Each team will have a guide from the Conference Planning Committee assisting them with the scavenger hunt and winners will receive gift cards.

Professional Panel

​

Members of the Seattle Professionals chapter and other NSBE professionals will answer questions about work, life, and leadership.

​

Hospitality Suite

​

Opportunity for companies and student leaders to network in an informal setting while enjoying drinks and finger foods.

Effective Communication

​

Chapter Presidents, Vice Presidents, and Senators will work with fellow position holders to identify chapters greatest needs, set goals, and create a strategic vision. By the end of the workshop a strategic plan will be created.

​

Effective Arrangements

​

This workshop will be presented by the Programs Zone and they will give tips on how to create and implement programs that target members and keep them engaged.

​

Effective Publicity

​

Learn about the best marketing and public relation tools to target members. The Comm. zone will teach members how to market to the world, organize board communications, and increase chapter’s influence.

​
 

Effective Solicitation

​

The Finance Zone will share most and least successful fundraising tips and experiences while helping reduce chapter costs, creating sponsorship packets, and pitching fundraiser.

​

It's All in the Numbers

​

Share techniques to increase membership amongst chapters and give members a chance to share about how they find success.

​

To Lead is to Serve

​

The Chairperson and Vice Chairperson will help members identify who they serve, outline the many roles of NSBE leaders, and walk you through different scenarios that you may face throughout the year.

​

The Power of the NSBE Senate

​

Prepare leaders to make decisions based on the membership and inform them of the impact of the votes of Senators. Will also outline key voting issues that will be up for debate among the society this year.

Road to 10,000: PCI Discussion

​

The Region VI PCI Chair will give tips to sustain PCI chapters and reach goals set by the region.

Leveraging Your Alumni

​

Professional members will teach how to utilize alumni to help sustain chapters

Leveraging Chapter Membership

​

Learn how to keep members involved in all programming set up by the CEB by leveraging member led initiatives.

​ 

Leveraging Chapter Relations Within Your Zone

​

Learn how to utilize chapters in zones within region by encouraging them to work together and communicate more often.

​

Case Study Challenge

​

Teams will investigate and present case study solutions to a “Board of Directors” who will critique and judge their presentation. Winners will be selected from each size division.

Image and Professionalism: Men/Women

​

Learn important tips to build and maintain professional image as Black Men/Women while remaining yourself.
